Some areas of employment in South Africa have been further regulated by law. South African labour law covers all forms of employment but over the years, the government has added extra laws to provide specific protection to sectors that, in the past have been abused.  The domestic sector, is defined in Sectoral Determination 7. This defines not only who is considered to be an employee within this sector, but also the maximum hours of work allowed, minimum wages, annual leave, payment information, deductions allowed and deductions not allowed. This lists only some of the areas governed.
